CrocGuard® is a game changing barrier system that can span up to 16m between abutment posts. The system designed by Safe Direction utilises Thriebeam rails that encase a reinforced concrete core.
Crash tested to MASH TL4 & TL3, CrocGuard® offers a solution for weak bridge decks, narrow thoroughfares, or problem areas where conventional post & rail barrier is not a viable option.
This was the case at Waituna where both sides of the road could not utilise standard barrier systems, and road realignment was not an option for the local authority.
CrocGuard® was recognised as being the system of choice for solving the problem, as well as the fastest installation reducing community disruption, and a cost effective solution. Being a one-way road, construction and road closure could only take place for one day between 9am & 2:30pm.
During this time Tascon’s installation of the CrocGuard® comprised of set-out, auguring the abutment post holes, lifting the CrocGuard® beams in place, attachment of the abutment posts, concreting the abutment posts in, and installing the RamShield® Transitions to the CrocGuard® abutment posts.
A fantastic effort and a smooth installation by Tascon.
The road was then re-opened up in time for the school bus and community
